Amid escalating regional violence Israeli warplanes carried out a series of airstrikes on Gaza early on Thursday in response to militants launching rockets on Israel.
According to an Israeli official 15 sites were targeted.
One rocket reportedly hit houses in the vicinity of a Hamas training camp, causing residents to flee their homes.
Ten civilians were wounded and taken to hospital according to Palestinian medical officials.
One Gaza resident said: "My wife was preparing food for Ramadan, suddenly we heard a big explosion. I felt the fire inside my house come towards me and my daughters. We ran outside and we found our car and all the houses around damaged. They are completely destroyed."
Israeli officials claim more than 20 rockets have been fired at southern Israel in the last few days, and that the Hamas targets hit included weapons storage facilities and rocket launchers.
